Senior Conference in Bern, Switzerland - September 2015

Elder and Sister Despain - our new couple here in Stuttgart. They are from Montana. Sister Despain was raised in Star Valley and Elder Despain's grandmother was from Star Valley. They both still have relatives there.

 Elder and Sister Bos

On our walking tour of the city.

Love the door knocker - reminds me of Marley in the Christmas Carol when he appeared to
Scrooge on the door knocker.

The front of a cathedral in Bern.

Bern's glockenspiel (dancing figures on the clock.)

 Elder Bos

Sister Bos in front of the glockenspiel.

Interesting and somewhat strange decoration out of a window.

 Another beautiful church.

 Inside the church.

Elder and Sister Fox (on their 3rd mission in Bern) played the alphorns for the conference.

We left Bern and drove to Lucerne, Switzerland. It's a beautiful city right on Lake Lucerne.
Lots of swans on the lake.

Kapellbrücke. The construction started in 1333 and is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe. It partially burned in 1993 and was reconstructed in 1994.

 On the bridge

 On the bridge

 Lots of places to go.

 A beautiful city.  Lucerne, Switzerland

The Lion Monument (GermanLöwendenkmal), or the Lion of Lucerne, is a sculpture in LucerneSwitzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris.  (Info found on the internet).
It was a huge and beautiful carving.

The Alpine German Speaking Mission Senior Missionaries. September 2015 in Bern, Switzerland. President and Sister Kohler are on the far left second row.

Young Single Adult Activity in the Black Forest

Some of these YSA's have gone back to the states. We had a great time with them.

We rode the rodelbahn (similar to an alpine slide in the states, but up on a track).
This was the view from up on top.

Wonderful dinner together!

We had a great dinner with Scott Conlin (nephew from Utah) in Friedrichsdorf, Germany.
It was a real treat to have family here.

Former District Leaders, Pancake Party and Volk Fest

Elders Adam and Wiberg. Elder Wiberg was our district leader then Elder Adam was our district leader.
Both have transferred out. We miss them.

Pancake Party - Before transfers in September, we had a pancake party for those leaving.
Pancakes, eggs and bacon!
 Elder Adam was entertaining us.

Elder Hunt (our zone leader at the time) and Sister Bishop (love this missionary!) cooking eggs and pancakes.
Both of these missionaries have transferred.

 Elders Bates and Adam

Elder Ringger (zone leader at the time) filling his plate.

Sisters Bishop and Earnshaw. Both transferred. Hated to see these missionaries leave our zone.

Elder Adam and Johann (He is usually smiling).

Volk (Fall) Fest
Our district (Despains didn't join us that day).
From left to right, Elders Killpack (zone leader), Adam (district leader - transferred now), Donald (our current district leader), Sisters Earnshaw (transferred now), Bos and Selph, Elders Bos and Hunt (zone leader - transferred now)
They weren't sure about this ride.

Sister Selph came off of the ride with a bit of nausea.

Elder Killpack and his foot long wurst.

All of the missionaries friend, Johann, and Sister Earnshaw.
